Week 9 Reading Quiz
1) Using the print module's Custom Picture Package, one can import multiple images into a new document (that can be saved to JPEG format after assembly) and change their size and layout.
2) When you control-click on particular image in the print module, you have the option to Send Backwards or Send Forwards that image, essentially adjusting which layer the image appears on.
3) Pedro uses digital processes to recreate memories of his life as he remembers them, and in a way that traditional analog photography does not (at least for him).
4) He defines our collective notion of "straight documentation" as narrowly established by trends in aesthetics and technology, and maintains that in the grander scheme of history this notion of what is currently considered visual documentation is fleeting, and that his work will eventually be considered as fitting into the contemporary notion of straight documentation.

Week 6 Reading Quiz
1) ICC profiles are data sets that describe the particular color space of any color input or output device. In digital printing, it defines the color map available for the particular surface being printed upon, so long as the printer being used is capable of working in that color space.
2) Monitor calibration is the process of color correcting the monitor one is working with, often to sync with the capabilities of the printer one is using. This is important because it insures that the image you are printing will be rendered almost exactly as you saw it in the digital workspace (barring any discrepancies caused by the printing surface in the case of unusual materials).
3) The Reading would not open in Blackboard, so I will just take a stab at this question based on my own experience with the landscape.
The most obvious function the landscape serves is geography. It imposes a physical location or setting on the viewer.
The autobiographical function of landscape could be that it describes the photographer's immediate setting, and those settings over one's career provide a visual log of experiences and place.
The metaphorical function of landscape is often relegated in the visual arts as serving to represent the human body or some portion thereof. At other times, landscape serves as a mechanism of comparison in rather unexpected ways. In British photographer Ingrid Pollard's work, she photographs black British citizens in rural landscapes to create a juxtaposition between a group typically associated with an urban environment and our expectation of what that environment should be.
